Immersive digital learning tool for frontline workers in logistics

  • Insight: There is a difference between reading information and actual comprehension, especially as part of an onboarding experience as a new employee.

  • Design challenge: How might we create an immersive digital experience that both informs and tests the comprehension of key safety risks?

  • Idea: A modular experience that allows workers to navigate the Critical Risks independently, learn through video and regularly test comprehension.

My role in this

I led the strategy for this piece of work, working closely with the both the client and the Experience Design team to define which elements of the current learning experience needed improving and the role that a new digital experience could have on workers’ comprehension. This included:

  • Leading client workshops to better understand the business need and current state

  • Carrying out landscape reviews to consider like-for-like experiences across other industries

  • Interviewing frontline workers to understand their needs and experience using the current format of learning

  • Working alongside Experience Design to develop prototypes that could be tested with workers

  • Facilitating user testing focus groups with workers to get their feedback and preferences around the prototype

  • Writing a content brief to define the role of content in the experience and the core requirements for a copywriter.
