Making financial advice a conversation through storytelling and smart data.

  • Insight: Customers struggle to identify with their future selves when doing future financial planning.

  • Design challenge: How can we make life insurance more tangible to a user so they see the value in it and ultimately, what they have to lose?

  • Idea: A visual, engaging experience supported by smart logic that enables the adviser to focus on storytelling and the customer to comprehend their risk.

My role in this: I’ve had the privilege of working on this SaaS product for over four years. I’ve played a lead a strategy role as part of a cross-functional squad dedicated to the product, which has included:

  • Adviser research (e.g., interviews and surveys to gather feedback on the experience)

  • Ethnography to understand how the tool fits into users’ wider advice process

  • Strategic roadmapping of the product

  • Agile product management (quarterly planning, sprint planning etc)

  • Working alongside the design team to develop new features

  • Reviewing the performance of the product.
